Poems for Remembrance Day

In Love and War

I remember you,
as sweet, as airy
as the honeysuckle
that blooms along
the summer wind
of youth

You are departed
now, like the wind
a wisp of once
and not to be
lost to the thunder
of war

The solemn silence, a hushed crowd
in veneration, their heads bowed
Fleeting moment of time
to honour fallen soldiers proud
who gave all, fulfilled duty vowed
Conjured, as the bells chime
